I never ever book a hotel room until I know for sure that I’m getting on a flight. This trip to Seattle was really last minute, so the only preparation I made before taking off was reserving a rental car. My original plan was to drive out to Olympic National Park in the morning and spend the entire day there. When we landed Friday night, hotel prices were insane. I’m talking $300-$600 PER NIGHT just to stay in a shitbox. Turns out something called SeaFair was going on (read: the biggest weekend in the summer.) Revenue Management at its finest I guess. There was no justification to spend that much for one night, so we slept in the rental car. I use the term slept lightly, because I didn’t.
Sleepless in Seattle.
So instead of trying to drive out 4+ hours and back 4+ hours after not sleeping, it was best that we stayed around town. I’ll see you next time, Olympic National Park.
